Film Aid
Advice for the application schedule
1. Fill in the schedule as precisely as possible.
First and foremost you have to consider, what your project is all about. Express your motives as short as possible, and be precise. A boundless material will not convince the Project Committee, that you are the right person to plan a media production. That goes for a superficial and inexact application too. You will have to combine the short form with the weight of your project. We want you to lay the main emphasis on three conditions.
The most important is:
a. Your story
b. The leading thought in your film.
c. Your reflections on the expression.
2. Make your dreams come through - Be realistic
Your ambitions have to match your talent. Even experienced filmmakers find it difficult to make a film. So - why not start simple?
But of course, in case it will make you disastrous forever - if you never get the chance to shoot a drama on the Middle Ages, on the ruined castle in Southern France - then go for it! The Committee is keen to support important experiments!
3. Technique and artistic effects
We want you to consider your stylistic effects - and the technique you have to use, to make them come through. In some productions a simple technique is ok - while others are technical demanding.
4.Enclose informative material
Get the informative material into a shape, which is fit for your project. That might be:
- A description of themes and persons.
- A description of the plot.
- A sketch of a finished manuscript, with or without a dialog.
5. Enclosed material - Enclose your CV and/or a copy of some of the works you have finished.
This will give the Project Committee an insight in your ambitions and your experience, in your way of telling a story, and how you weight your themes. That makes it possible to us understand, what your project means to you - and what it might mean to others in the future.
6.
Be serious!
The indication of value a support from Århus Filmværksted is between 10.000 and
100.000 kr.
The time you spend filling in the application - is time for preparation. This time is not wasted, even if you don't get any support - at first.
In any case your application for Århus Filmværksted is the first step towards the finished film.
